Pine Oregon Green #15

Austrian Pine ‘Oregon Green’ (Pinus nigra 'Oregon Green') is a dense, upright evergreen with dark green, glossy needles that are slightly twisted, giving it a textured, ornamental appearance. Its strong branching and compact, pyramidal habit make it a standout specimen or an excellent option for screening and windbreaks. This selection is more compact and formal than typical Austrian pines, with excellent tolerance to urban conditions and tough sites.

Light: Grows best in full sun, needing at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day to thrive.

Water: Water deeply and regularly during the first few growing seasons to establish a strong root system. Once established, it is drought-tolerant and prefers infrequent, deep watering during prolonged dry periods.

Soil: Adapts to a wide range of soils, including sandy, loamy, or clay soils, as long as they are well-drained. Tolerant of poor or dry soils once established.

Growth Rate & Size: Moderate growth rate. Matures to about 15–20 feet tall and 10–15 feet wide, forming a dense, pyramidal shape with strong horizontal branching.

Foliage & Fall Color: Features dark green, stiff needles in pairs, approximately 4–6" long. Holds its color beautifully throughout the year with no noticeable fall color change.

Maintenance: Very low maintenance. Minimal pruning is needed. Resistant to air pollution, salt, and urban stress—great for tough planting conditions.
