Down to Earth began as the dream of a father and son, John and Ben Polzin: a dream to spend quality time together, to learn and train in an honorable industry, and to work in the incredible outdoors. Since then, the family legacy has continued and flourished. 

Since 1997, Down to Earth Garden Center has been creating unique designs, growing extraordinary products and offering top quality customer service. The Garden Center expansion into Eau Claire in 2010 allowed the family the space and resources to create a one-of-a-kind garden center experience. In 2024, the family legacy was passed down to a new generation. Ben and his wife, Sarah, oversee the retail division, with cousin Dominic Paull and his wife, Lindsey, overseeing the landscape division. This legacy continues to positively impact the Chippewa Valley through their family of businesses.

In 2018, the opening of the Mustard Seed Boutique and the renovation of the Five & Two Cafe furthered their dream of creating a unique shopping experience. In 2024, they expanded their shops to include a new and exciting store, John Scott Men’s Apparel.
